When searching in Web of Science, you will be taken to the Core Collection by default. This consists of the following:
• Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED) --1945-present
• Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) --1956-present
• Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI) --1975-present
• Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) --2015-present
In addition to this Core Collection, you can also search in a number of additional databases using the ‘All Databases’ option. In this case, the following folders will also be searched:
• Current Contents Connect® (1998-present)
• KCI-Korean Journal Database (1980-present)
• MEDLINE® (1950-present)
• Russian Science Citation Index (2005-present)
• SciELO Citation Index (1997-present)
Via ‘All Databases’, the number of references that is searched doubles (about 110 million compared to 55 million). And this difference in number of references can influence a result, for example, when it comes to H-indexes and other citation scores. |
